Stefan Reid, Director of Music

Stefan began conducting at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Ashbourne, Derbyshire. At Oxford University, where he was a music scholar and obtained first class honours in Music, he directed his college orchestra and choir. He conducted the Arcadian Singers of Oxford University in concerts around Britain and in the Czech Republic and Ireland. At the University of Surrey, where he gained an MMus degree in Conducting and Performance Studies, he worked with the University Chamber Choir and Chorus and the Chamber and Symphony Orchestras.

Stefan is Director of Music of Lewisham Choral Society and South Hampstead High School. In addition to his conducting activities he works regularly as an accompanist and organist in London and around the country. Recently he has conducted Brahms' German Requiem, David Fanshawe's African Sanctus and Britten's War Requiem at Walthamstow Assembly Hall, and Orff's Carmina Burana at Ilford Town Hall. He has travelled to Rome with London Symphony Chorus as Guest Chorus Director, and recently worked with them on the chorus to the forthcoming film Copying Beethoven.

His future plans include performances of Mozart's Requiem and Beethoven's Triple Concerto as well as a Bach Cantata cycle in Hampstead.
